When it comes to individual therapy, I know you have a lot of options and I appreciate that you are taking the time to consider me. Let me introduce myself.
I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas originally from Louisville, Kentucky (Go Cards!). I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Masters in Education in Counseling Psychology from University of Louisville, and a Doctor of Psychology from Spalding University. I moved to Houston, Texas in 2014 for my internship at University of Houston Counseling and Psychological Services, and have continued to work there to the present day. Prior to 2014, I worked for a number different mental health providers including a community provider assisting folks with severe mental illness, a VA Hospital, an inpatient mental health hospital, and at an elementary school counselors office.
My training is primarily in cognitive-behavioral approaches, including schema therapy. While not offering couples therapy at this time, my work is also influenced by Gottman couples therapy approach as well, and I have completed Level 2 Gottman training. In therapy, expect me to listen, offer support, empathize, and possibly encourage you to challenge your first insticts and look at things from a new perspective. I would expect some homework, so any gains or insights from therapy can be practiced outside of the therapy room.
Sophia is my 11 (ish) year old possible Border Collie-mix pup that you might see walking around the backgroud of telehealth sessions.
She was a rescue pup who was adopted from BARC. I do not know much about the first 3 years of her life, but she has since settled into being a happy and lazy dog. She has been the best four-legged companion a person could want.
Don't worry, she signed all the paperwork to keep everything confidential.
